UFC 115 MMA betting

In spite on winning their last bouts, lightweights Mad Danzig and Matt Wiman will be close to desperate to win their upcoming MMA battle when they square off in the Octagon this Saturday at UFC 115: Liddell vs. Franklin, which will take place in the City of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at the General Motors Place on Saturday, June 12 beginning at 10 PM ET.

MMA gambling fans across the globe will have an excellent opportunity to cash in with a winning wager when Danzig, “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 6 winner, tries to handle his business against the younger and far less experienced Wiman.

MMA Betting Odds
Mac Danzig -120
Matt Wiman -110

Let’s take a look at the tale of the tape on each fighter before I offer up my analysis and expert MMA betting pick.

Mac Danzig

  • Born: Cleveland, Ohio, USA
  • Fighting out of: Los Angeles, CA
  • Age: 30
  • Height: 5' 8" (173 cm)
  • Weight: 155 lbs. (70 kg)
  • Overall MMA Record: (W-L-D), 20-7-1
  • Strengths: My mind, experience
  • Comment on Matt Wiman: He's one of the toughest, most determined fighters I've gone up against. It's going to be a war.

Matt Wiman

  • Born: Denver, Colorado, USA
  • Fighting out of: San Francisco, CA
  • Age: 26
  • Height: 5' 10" (178 cm)
  • Weight: 155 lbs. (70 kg)
  • Overall MMA Record: (W-L-D), 11-5-0
  • Strengths: Jiu-jitsu and standup
  • Comment on Mac Danzig: Mac Danzig is a tough, well rounded fighter...I am very much looking forward to this fight... It will be a great step forward.

The Breakdown: Matt Wiman handled Shane Nelson by recording a unanimous decision win at UFC 107 in December to snap a two-fight losing streak (both unanimous decisions) but needs to step up and put on a good show after being involved in three start decision bouts.

Many MMA observers thought Wiman actually beat Sam Stout in his last fight, so the young brawler will almost assuredly want to make sure this one isn’t left in the hand of the judges.

Mac Danzig will likely be even more desperate that Matt Wiman in spite of recording a unanimous decision win over Justin Buchholz at UFC 109 in February.

Danzig suffered two unanimous decision losses and one submission during the stretch and has actually lost five of his last eight fights overall, putting him in danger of being dropped by the UFC I would suspect.

Analysis: I’ll get right to the point with this pick by saying, that I just can’t bring myself to back Mac Danzig in this fight no matter how much of an edge he has in experience as I genuinely believe the younger Wiman will walk away victorious in this matchup of two very evenly matched fighters.

While I am picking Matt Wiman to win this fight, I’d be lying to my MMA betting brethren if I said that Mac Danzig had no shot at winning this bout.

I am a bit concerned that Wiman doesn’t seem to have any specific area where he really excels and has struggled to finish off his opponents, recording four of his wins by decision, four more by KO and just three by submission.

Danzig has recorded more than half (10) of his 19 wins by submission and could win this fight as the narrow favorite is he gets Wiman out of position.

I’m not expecting that to happen as I believe the younger Wiman still has a solid upside while Danzig has likely reached the pinnacle of his skill level.

Matt Wiman seems to love decision outcomes lately, so I’m going to say play Wiman to cash in by recording a unanimous decision win.
